Sit, Stay, Smile: The Joy of Photographing Dogs (and Their People) in Charleston

So if you’re thinking about booking a family session and wondering, “Should we bring the dog?” the answer is a resounding yes. Bring the dog. Bring two. Let’s make space for the barking, the belly rubs, and the beautiful unpredictability that comes with photographing pets who are loved like family—because they are. If you’ve ever called yourself a dog mom, a fur parent, or bought your dog any article of clothing, you are my people, and PLEASE bring that pup of yours.

And when your pup gives me that goofy grin or leans into your arms like you’re their whole world… click. That’s the shot. That’s your story. They’re there for baby snuggles and heartbreaks and house moves and quiet mornings on the porch. From new puppies to furbabies who will soon gain their wings, I hold space for that special bond we know as “doghood”. Including them isn’t just cute (although it definitely is); it’s honest. It’s love in its most joyful, slobbery, messy form.
